City of Pico Rivera Awards Three Year Contract to Southland Transit

Pico Rivera, CA (April 26, 2022) – The Pico Rivera City Council voted unanimously last night to approve a 1.3 million dollar contract for Southland Transit, Inc. (STI) to continue operating its Dial-A-Van services for three (3) years, beginning July 2022. The contract may be extended for two (2) additional years.

STI has operated the City’s contracted transit services since the company’s inception in 2001. Under the new agreement, STI will continue to operate services from its San Gabriel Valley based headquarters. The Company will be responsible for all aspects of dispatching, operations and maintenance, and for providing technologies that increase system efficiency and enhance rider experience. Services will be provided utilizing a fleet of 3 ADA accessible minibuses.

About Pico Rivera Transit Services

The City of Pico Rivera has been operating the Dial-A-Van (DAV) program since 1999. DAV is a curb-to-curb paratransit service for residents age 55 and older, and for individuals with disabilities. The current program operates five (5) days per week from 8 AM to 11 AM and 12 PM to 4 PM. Transportation is provided within the City and up to six (6) miles beyond limits for approved trips. Services are provided free of charge to qualified riders.
